Modifications of 2.0 TSI EA888.3 engines far beyond stock power require sufficient high-pressure fuel to prevent “fuel starvation,” especially in the midrange. In many cases, the factory fuel pump begins to lose pressure. The amount of fuel the high-pressure pump can deliver depends on the displacement of the pressure piston inside the pump.
This upgrade replaces the internal components responsible for fuel pressure and volume supplied to the injectors to meet higher power requirements.
Due to tight tolerances, the piston’s final surface finish inside the fuel pump is critical and can be damaged by bare hands. The tolerance between the piston and the new sleeve it slides in can only be measured by a machine using air volumes to check microscopic clearances.
